kawamura-ganjavian are glad to announce their participation at the exhibition Talk to Me which will take place at the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA) in New York City between 24th July and 7th November 2011. The show, curated by Paola Antonelli, elaborates on the theme of communication between people and objects.
kawamura-ganjavian, frequent users of Barajas airport in Madrid, showed during the month of March 2011 a series of ingenious objects that solve everyday life situations. By placing these domestic objects in a public space of transit we were inviting airport users to take a little break. The exhibition took place in the corridor between the Metro station and Terminals 1&2.
SCENTER and EARSHELL, two products designed by kawamura-ganjavian, were exhibited at the Instant Design (Second Chapter: Usable Actions) show in theTriennale di Milano (Milan, Italy) between the 8th February and the 3rd April 2011. The exhibition was curated by Federica Sala and Michela Pelizzari.
The modular partition system STICKINGRINGS designed by kawamura-ganjavian, has been exhibited at the INTERIEUR 2010 design biennale in Belgium (15th-24th October 2010). This system allows the creation of walls assembling its rings freely, intuitively and in a very fast way. The adjustable density and porosity of the resulting screen generates different degrees of privacy.
BINPAN, designed by kawamura-ganjavian, has received the 3rd prize (Bronze Haechi) in the international contest "design for all" organized by designboom and the Seoul design fair 2010 and OYSTER an honorable mention. 5175 designers from 103 countries participated in the contest. BINPAN is a dustbin when it stands up and a dustpan when it lies down; a very convenient hybrid for office and domestic environments.
kawamura-ganjavian have been part the Architecture exhibition "Humanizar la Ciudad" in which the studio is participating with an installation entitled "Intimate Atomospheres". The exhibition is curated by Juan Mera and will take place at the Santa & Cole showroom in Madrid and Barcelona.
A series of CATERPILLAR benches, designed by kawamura-ganjavian, were exhibited at the concept store Autour du Mond during the Maison&Objet domestic design fair in Paris between the 3rd and 5th September 2010.
A video by kawamura-ganjavian was shown in the exhibition Beyond Media 2009 in the section Wide Eyed which featured films responding to the architectural visions of 21 international emerging architectural practices. The show was curated by Melissa Woodford from Nous Gallery and took place at Stazione Leopolda in Florence, Italy, between 9th-17th July 2009 within the context of the 9th Visions International Festival of Architecture.
Stickingrings, winner of the young designers award 2008 by Ayuntamiento de Madrid in the product design category, is shown at Galería Lequerica in Madrid (Spain). November 14 - December 28 2008.
A Stickingsticks pavilion was exhibited at the Habitat design fair in Valencia (Spain). September 23-27 2008.
kawamura-ganjavian's Stickingrings pavilion proposal for the Urbantine competition was selected for the Architecture of Media exhibition curated by Melissa Woolford and Christian Derix at Nous Gallery in London (UK). September 11 - October 2 2008.
Locutorio Colón was selected by curators Francesca Ferguson and Lorenza Barboni to take part in the architecture and urbanism exhibition Re-Activate at the EACC centre in Castelló (Spain). A reading space built with the Stickingsticks system and furnished with Caterpillar benches and the read-in-peace book stands was commissioned to kawamura-ganjavian. May 25 - August 31 2008.
A Stickingsticks prototype space was shown at the Spanish young designers selection Huellas de Abecedario included in the Casa Pasarela design fair in Madrid (Spain). February 14-17 2008.
A first prototype of World Grammar and a series of design products by kawamura-ganjavian were exhibited in the Perdidos show at the COAM Foundation in Madrid (Spain). It was curated by Juan Roldán, Javier Guijarro and Elena Blanco. January 17 - February 27 2008.
